MIG, the Dream

the dream

Sunday, 10th February 2008.

One warm Saturday afternoon my friends and I decided to go to the beach. Upon arrival I realized that I had left my swimming trunks at home. I reclined in my chair as my friends run off into the water in the swimming gear. I tried reading a book but the place was bustling with activity so I gave up on it and decided to people-watch. A strapping young man and a Nubian African princess strolled leisurely past me. It wasn’t their looks that captivated me but their outfits. Leopard skin bikini and kente swimming trunks…i don’t normally do this but I had to ask them where they got it.

The next day I searched high and low for the kiosk they had directed me. It took me hours to locate the place and when I finally did, it was in a remote, yet crowded town. I was blown away by his designs and his pieces. I asked him how long have you been doing this? He said 15 years..my mouth dropped…as I placed an order and walked out of the room he said to me.."boss..there are many more like us".

It was at this juncture that Manufactured In Ghana Limited was born. Ghana does not suffer from a lack of talent, they suffer from the lack of exposure, great publicity and more importantly solid distribution channels.
